CRISTOBAL, Norman/b. Zambales, 1953. (Figurative folk) Com- mercial art, Phil Col of Art and Trade, 1971- 73. Drafting Technology, Gregorio Perfecto Vocational School, Tondo, 1976. CCP Mural Arts workshop, 1987. Opened four-man show at Kent Gallery, 1995, with Rody Marbella and Nick and William Abueg. Paints horses and figures in a realist style, embellishing the can- vas with medallion motifs of varied shapes in gold and purple, as in folk art. First worked as an artist in a publishing firm making pock- etbook covers. Was a cinema and billboard artist at Sagmit Advtg, Tondo, from 1972 to 1974, under mentors Joe Reyes and Ernesto Chiongbian; also at Cauilan Advtg from 1975- 82, and at Arambulo Advtg in 1983. House artist, Jaime Valenzuela Gallery, Pista Pilipino, 1984. In the '90s, worked for a firm that pro- duced art products for export. Opened his own billboard signshop, NFR Advtg, in Camarin, Novaliches, 1997. Was 2nd place winner, Flea Market spot competition, 1976.
